FACTORY KIDS

Formed in 2008, Factory Kids are musician/artist Christina Marie (formerly of The Modern Hour/Audn) and singer/songwriter Tim Chaplin (solo/Luminous). Their first release, a track called "Dazzle", was released on the Unexplainable Recordings label's Fall 2008 cassette boxset, Unexplainable Forever. They rounded off the year by giving away a free Christmas song, "Father Christmas Still". 2009 began with another release, "Don't Meet No One", on the 16th volume of Series Two Records' CD-R compilations. Factory Kids' self-titled debut album will follow soon on Powertool Records...

BIG TAKEOVER MAGAZINE. FALL 2009. This CD immerses me in a lovely mess of lo-fi noise and melodics that washes over me like some psychedelic underground tribute to Psychocandy. An alternate universe tribute where Nikki Sudden and Epic Soundtracks were, in fact, the Reid brothers, and sometimes on their days off they would play in the park with J. Mascis. Mournful and melancholy reverb fuzz hitting like some of the best memories I have. Some wonderful moments that start making me think of Jeremy Gluck and his Buffalo Bill days, and I feel like some distortion sorrow swoon is going to hit me any second. Slight jangle glam comes out in bursts of upbeat melodics, but it’s the slower songs that hit your heart just right. (powertoolrecords.co.nz)
