The Indie Club

Indie Club is a regular gig that promotes independent music both live and recorded and has been operating in and around Auckland the past four years. During that time we have had hundreds of bands, duos and solo artists perform. It is a night of networking, making contacts and new friends. Ideal for new bands just starting out and also established acts wishing to widen their audience.

The entry price of $10 includes a FREE CD,our main focus is to get cds into peoples hands. We cover all the costs of putting the show on i.e.advertising, production, time, cds etc. There is no payment for playing however if you bring cds along on the night the Indie Club will guarantee to buy cds to add to the mix available on the door. We buy albums for $10, eps for $6 or samplers/demos for $5. Note: CD's need to be presentable i.e.: with a cover and a printed disc. Much of the time the patrons are buying cds on how they look and if they look bad, they won't sell. We will guarantee to buy at least 5 cds regardless if they sell or not on the night..... more if the turnout is good. In order for you to get the most out of the Indie Club, it is important to have your cds in the mix available on the door.

Suggestions to acts wishing to play Indie Club .....

1. Why not make a limited run release especially for the night. Get creative and hand-make covers. People like exclusivity..... not only is it an incentive for your friends and fans to pick up your cd, it's also a reason for them to come out and support you.

2. Pre-sale tickets. These are a great way to also get your friends along. Most people have good intentions when they say they are going to come to your gig. On the night, quite often other things sometimes take priority ie: something good on tv, too tired etc. However if they have purchased a ticket to your show, then that becomes their number one priority. Indie Club has a pre-sale ticket scheme whereby you receive an extra ticket FREE for every two you purchase.

3. Make your night special. Have a reason to celebrate .... a new release is always a good reason.

4. There is no room for snobbery. Support the other acts playing. This is a night of networking and widening your audience. By supporting the other acts, you encourage your fans to also hang around and check them out. There is nothing worse than playing to an empty room.

5. Always give a 100% performance. You never know who's in the audience.

6. If you don't have a CD, take advantage of the exceptionally good value Indie Club Sessions offer. This deal has been taylor-made for the Indie Club.

7. Become a member. Membership is free. Simply email through your contact details ie: name, address, phone number and email address. You will get a membership card. Membership will entitle you to regular updates of whats coming up and news. You will also receive a 10% discount from our retail shop Alien. This is a new concept .... we will be adding more benefits over the coming year and telling you about them in our regular updates.

8. Run your own Indie Club. This is open to all members. Advantages include .....extremely good value to your patrons, you can PURCHASE Indie Club cds for your night at $6 each or you can EXCHANGE your cds .... one for one. This will give you variety and guaranteed sales. Ideal for moving your excess stock and getting them into the hands of not just your listeners but also other gig goers. 9. When supplying your cd to the Indie Club, provide a brief bio that can be used in promotion. Note: When we buy your cd, besides selling them at Indie Club, we also sell them through our retail shop Alien.
