SIDE EFFECTS - GOLD APACHE Quite possibly one
of the best surf albums ever to come out of the Antipodes. Recorded live
in 2001 in Wellytown's DIY gig institution, Thistle Hall....the
flash and fervour of what a passionate performance by possessed surf fiends
should be like...60% of the band would later become those zombie lounge
lizards, the Chandeliers....a chunk
of appropriate covers, the Dr Who theme, the Stones' "Paint It
Black" , the 13th Floor Elevators' "Reverberation" and the Ventures
"Swinging Creeper".....the fuzz steams outta yr speakers, the reverb twangs
and drips like it should, the voodoo pound of drumskins, the walking bass
throb, keyboard exotica added to an already bubbling casserole...you dig
surf, you'll surely dig this...
