THE TEMPORARY THING
Since 1998, Massachusetts native, Andrew Gleason, has been writing and recording songs under the pseudonym, THE TEMPORARY THING. In 2001 After traveling through Europe, Gleason was able to release a 7" EP on the Greek Record label, PopArt. This EP caught the attention of LA radio station, KXLU, who requested that Gleason come to LA and play their annual fundraiser show. He decided to stay in Los Angeles and formed a six piece band. The band's current discography includes two full length CD's and a series of EP's. Gleason's songwriting is heavily influenced by artists like Bob Dylan, Stuart Murdoch, Beck, U2, and Bruce Springsteen. Lyrically, Gleason puts his heart out on the table, crafting sincere and meaningful songs that are full of originality. It is music that is beautifully arranged, and deeply rooted in melody and heart. In addition to playing frequent shows at some of LA's best clubs, including The Knitting Factory, The Mint, and Spaceland, The Temporary Thing has received much attention overseas. Their music has been played on European radio programs by both John Peel and Bernard Lenoir. Now, thanks to Powertool Distribution, The band's newest self-released album is available in New Zealand and Australia.
