PT032: Edward Gains - Bel Hevi (Album) 2005 "Bel Hevi" is the latest Edward Gains offering and is a less lo-fi affair, gains moving away from the 4-track used on his previous 6 albums and now recording on a home computer. Don't worry though, plenty of $20 microphones were destroyed in the making of this album and all instruments are planted firmly 'in the red'. |
US: $13.95 NZ: $20.00 |

PT008: Edward Gains - Edweird (Album) 2004. Edward Gains has been making lo-fi albums in various bedrooms around the world since 1996's "Shit Magnet". Armed with a four-track, bought from the proceeds of a medical experiment, a few beaten up guitars and a casio keyboard with a few missing keys, Edward has made seven albums to date, not counting his 2004 anthology "Edweird". |
US: $13.95 NZ: $20.00 |

TAL005: Elk City - Hold tight the ropes (Album) 2002. With Elk City's second LP, "Hold Tight The Ropes", the NYC avant-folk trio prsents its own strange vision of what rock music should be. Late 60's psychedelia, early 70's folk and mid 80's first round indie rock meet head-on in the dramatic strains of "Once And For All" (track #2). And that's just one of eleven similarly idiosyncratic tracks. Guitarist Peter Langland-Hassan connects the dots between Neil Young and Johnny Marr and has a voice that blends naturally with bassist Renee Lobue's. Lobue sings with a strength and passion recalling Patti Smith and Grace Slick and plays a Fender Rhodes Piano-Bass (a la Ray Manzerick of The Doors) instead of a conventional stringed bass. |
