PT071: Otis Mace - Bird In Bush Road (Album) 2007 These eleven tracks are a distillation of a decade of Mace's inventive and sometimes zany, stripped back song craft. The record features the musicianship of Carmel Courtney, Dave Peachy and Billy Gibson from Aotearoa, Tim Shireman ,(San Fransisco) and Rob Harris,Tone McAdam (UK). Praise from local icon, Don McGlashin; " ...your songs are great. Really crafty, beguiling and utterly like no-one else. Excellent work."--- |

PT069: One Man Bannister - Moth (Album) 2007 Moth is a CD of songs written and performed by Matthew Bannister (ex Sneaky Feelings, Dribbling Darts of Love, author of Positively George Street) over the period 2002-2006. It was put together using just a computer, a guitar and a voice at his (former) home in Sandringham, Auckland. And there's plenty more where they came from. "I've probably demoed almost a hundred songs, so these are the tip of the iceberg," he says. |

MFW003: Onanon - Hang on, Im still mutating (CD Album) 2004. Rock, but not the macho, posturing kind. Pop, but not bland and saccharine. And SONGS. Catchy, hooky, memorable SONGS. Does anyone still do that anymore? Onanon does. No one seemed to be creating the music these four people wanted to hear anymore. The only solution was to start a band and make that music themselves. Onanon have soaked up the influence of classic South Island guitar bands such as The Clean, 3Ds and Bailterspace and the DIY punk ethic of the early days of Flying Nun Records to spew forth their own greasy amalgam of guitar noise, catchy melody, and distinctive weirdness. |
