PT077: The Weather - Aroha Ave (Album) 2008

Aroha Ave. is a loose concept album based on the idea of suburban life in Auckland. I get fed up with the rock cliché that suburbs are boring places you have to escape from. Perhaps it’s true when you’re a teenager but I’m not a teenager anymore. Anyway there are lots of bands that have sung about suburban life, the Kinks or the Front Lawn for example.

PT068: Ward 4 - Overflow (EP) 2007

Ward 4 is an EP direct from the surreal sub-conscious mind of Lynn Morrisey (Cellar Uncle). Christian lyrics with dark overtones and music comparable to Edward Gains crossed with the Butthole Surfers.

US: $7.95

NZ: $10.00

TAL006: The Walkmen - Everyone who pretend to like me is gone (Album) 2002.

THE WALKMEN are five friendly New Yorkers who have played rock music diligently since the 5th grade. Now aged 23 to 28, they've performed under their current moniker for a little over a year. All five originally hail from Washington, D.C. where they attended the same high school and played loud music in several bands. Over the years, and in their many ensembles, they've experimented with punk, noise, a lot of "garage" sounds, ska, and some decent rock. Although initial press gave the Walkmen positive reviews, it seemed to focus too much on the former notoriety of three of its members, all of whom played in the much hyped, short-lived JONATHAN FIRE*EATER.
