THE VENTURI EFFECT The Venturi Effect is the latest project by Justin Schilder. Justin is also guitarist and founding member of Auckland band Chicane. Determined to realise the vision of songs that had been developing over a number of years, Justin armed himself with a Pro Tools system and began to piece these ideas together. Recorded, layer upon layer of distorted and undistorted guitar is intertwined with atmosphere-giving reverberation and delay, assisted by drums, bass, organ and layers of floating, harmonising vocals Live, however is to see the Venturi Effect stripped back to a one-man show. Guitar and vocals accompanied only by an array of effect pedals. Inherently based in the world of 'pop music' design, the Venturi Effect nevertheless sets out to in many ways disguise the 'pop' within a world of soundscapes. This may just give the listener a sample of the realm in which the Venturi Effect exists. One where depth, textures and sonic overtones play an indispensable role in guiding the songs and melodies to their final destination.
