Sandra Bell - White
Nights
Sandra Bell, Long known in Dunedin
and the American College Radio scene for her brand of rollicking dark
indie rock music. Sandra's 4th album White
Nights written mostly in Berlin where she lived from 2001-2006
is due out through Powertool Records on
Sept 1.
White Nights ranges from dangerous
brooding rock to delicate dark pop, including an intrumental on accordian.
Bell's charateristic spoken word is reminiscent of her beginnings as a
poet."Each song has its own identity and to create a more comprehensive
atmosphere and landscape, she recruited an array of guests, including
a group of Russian musicians on Balalaika and accordian, Johaannes
Contag on drums, Heath Te Au(Suka,Cloudboy,Heka), John
White(Mestar) and Ian Henderson(the
Puddle). The name White Nights
comes from the white nights of Northern Europe when in Summer there is
little or no darkness. "As most of the songs are about experiences in
Berlin, most of which took place through the long nights, it seemed an
appropiate title. "
