X(MELON) - A short biography by Tony Freij.
"André Karlsson & I decided to form X(Melon) from the remains of the alternative metal band Honey Hush in our home town of Helsingborg, Sweden. We had played together since winter 1996, so we both knew what we wanted with our music. Without any other band members we decided to lock ourselves up in our rehearsal studio and start over from scratch. We had a small idea of how the music should sound, based on a few songs that didn't fit in the Honey Hush concept. With these songs we started the to feel the unknown territory of Alternative Pop / Rock music". "After a few weeks we had enough material to choose from to record our first demo-CD. We contacted some people that we had worked with from time to time, to rehearse the music. We recorded four songs, and it felt awesome to listen to the music in different environments far away from the little crypt we worked and carved them in". "So far we've made six Demo-CD's, with various numbers of songs & artists. Since the beginning we have been very busy making our stuff sound like it is suppose to, but it is still not close enough. Then again, we hope that we'll never find out how the songs should really sound. When we do, it will not be fun anymore, because then we'll have forgotten how to develop our music and ourselves". In December 2003 we decided that it was time to make a real CD. With the newly started record label Cabriolet Records we took the giant leap into the music business; and made one of our dreams come true. The single was released in February 2004. We supported this single by actively playing at rock clubs in Sweden, both as the headline band and as a support band. Early in 2005, we signed an agreement with Smashed Records in Australia to release an EP there. It would also be distributed to several countries from Australia. Since we had only recorded 3 songs on our single, we completed the recording of 3 more songs to complete the EP. So far we have been receiving airplay in Sweden, Australia, USA, Mexico, Spain and Japan.
